Purpose of the course
- Assess how technology can help students overcome visual, learning and other problems and disabilities
- Teach students how to "take control" of their computers and find "settings" that will help them see and do their work more easily
- Teach students basic software programs e.g. Office 2000 (Word, Power Point, Photo Editor)
- Learn the basics of using the Internet, including Internet Explorer browser, electronic mail, search engines
- Introduce students to special technology that will help them learn--e.g. screen and text readers, on-on line dictionaries, spell-checks, braille mouse, enlargement programs
- Teach students how to adapt learning material, e.g. changing screen colors, enlarging fonts, highlighting key words
- Engage in special projects in English
